About Bonhui Uy
Bonhui Uy (pronounced "we"), renowned architectural designer, artist and illustrator, was born in the Philippines in 1941. He graduated as an architectural engineer from Taiwan National Cheng Kung University in 1964 and received his Master of Science in Tropical Architecture from Pratt Institute in New York in 1967.
Bonhui then spent more than a decade working as a designer for several architectural firms in both New York (1965-72) and Honolulu (1972-78), including the office of Philip Johnson/John Burgee, Architects. During this period he became known not only for his design skills, but also for his extraordinary talents in drawing--one of his great loves since childhood.
Wanting to concentrate on taking his architectural delineation skills to another level, in 1978 he set up his own studio in New York City, where he performed architectural illustration and consultation work for some of the world's most distinguished architects, including Philip Johnson, I.M. Pei, Edward Larrabee Barnes, David Childs and Samuel M. Brody. It was during this period that he began to explore pure art fervently in his spare time.
Although his New York practice as an architectural illustrator was highly successful, he nevertheless missed designing. So in July 1987 he accepted an invitation from his former firm in Honolulu (Media Five) to become its director of design and executive vice president. Since 1992 he has worked as a design consultant for several notable firms in Taiwan including Fei/Chen & Associates and J.J. Pan & Partners, Architects and Planners as well as with Honolulu-based firms including Architects Hawaii, John Hara Associates and WCIT among others.

In 2017 Bonhui published a children's book - "PEEK-A-BOO! SAYS WHO?" co-authored with his son, Bernard, one of the founders of Wall-to-Wall Studios.
He has also taught architectural design and presentation and conducted creative workshops at universities in Hawaii and Taiwan.
